2008 Election Year Activities
The close of this year's legislative session marks the beginning of the 2008 political season. This year's election includes every New York State Senate, Assembly and Congressional seat.

Important dates for 2008 New York State elections
- Deadline to postmark a voter registration: October 10
(Note: registrations can also be delivered in person to the county board of elections)
- General Election: November 4
How you can help NYSNA with its political agenda
- Need to register to vote in New York State? Online voter registration information and forms
- Join NYSNA's Campaign Activist Network - NYSNA CAN!
- Provide information on your legislator to NYSNA Political Action Committee (PAC) You are the eyes and ears of the Association. The PAC needs your input in the endorsement process. You can send your recommendations for your legislative district to NYSNA by letter, fax, or e-mail. Please send information as soon as possible, as endorsements will be considered on an ongoing basis. Please make sure your full name and member ID is on your recommendation.
- Volunteer in a campaign of your choice Let the candidates know that nurses appreciate and assist legislators who are supportive of nursing issues to get elected and stay in office.
- Get others to volunteer with you Bringing in additional volunteers makes an even bigger impact and demonstrates to legislators that you can organize people in your community.
- Share NYSNA-PAC endorsements Spread the word to co-workers and others in your community. Let people know which candidates support nurses, nursing and quality healthcare issues. Endorsement information, when available, will be posted here.
