NYSNA's Governmental Affairs program coordinates legislative advocacy for the Association. Governmental Affairs serves as the voice for RNs at the State Capitol, working with the state legislature and government agencies to preserve and protect the nursing profession.
Legislation to end the abusive practice of mandatory overtime passed both houses of the New York State Legislature on June 23. The bill (A11711/S8637 [formerly A1898-B/S6342]) was approved unanimously by both the State Assembly and State Senate and signed into law by Gov. David Paterson on August 13. More
