NYSNA's Governmental Affairs program coordinates legislative advocacy for the Association. Governmental Affairs serves as the voice for RNs at the State Capitol, working with the state legislature and government agencies to preserve and protect the nursing profession.
The American Nurses Association and the Hillary Clinton campaign have announced that the ANA has endorsed the Democratic Senator from New York for President of the United States.
“Senator Clinton has shown a commitment to implementing real change in our healthcare system to ensure high quality, affordable, and accessible care,” said ANA President Rebecca Patton. “She has also recognized the importance of educating, recruiting, and retaining RNs.”
Patton said Clinton understands the need to improve the nurse’s work environment, which includes addressing the issue of safe and appropriate staffing.
“I am honored to have the support of the ANA,” Clinton said. “We owe nurses a great debt of gratitude for the critical role they play every day in providing quality care. As President, I will continue to support efforts to attract and retain qualified nurses, especially in rural and urban areas, and to improve working conditions.”
