Members of the New York State Nurses Association will gather in beautiful Rye Brook, N.Y., to address issues that will help shape the future of the association and the nursing profession.

Friday, Sept. 26 is the association's traditional “Labor Day,” with meetings of the Congress of Bargaining Unit Leaders and the Delegate Assembly, plus the annual Labor Day Brunch. “Labor Day” events are open to bargaining unit members only.

All members are welcome to attend a plenary session on Friday afternoon to hear nurse activist Barbara Glickstein discuss the RN’s role in identifying and caring for victims of human trafficking.

On Saturday morning, the Nurses Association’s Practice Focus Groups will hold their first business meetings, with members discussing issues related to specific practice settings and specialties. A midday luncheon will feature a presentation by Jackie Pflug, best-selling author and survivor of a 1985 terrorist attack. CNE contact hours are offered for all business meetings and plenary sessions.*

The association’s official business will be conducted during an afternoon session of the Voting Body on Saturday, Sept. 27. Members will receive reports from association leaders and the executive secretary of the New York State Board for Nursing. Other agenda items will include the association’s Legislative Program, proposed bylaws changes, and resolutions on nursing practice issues. All NYSNA members in good standing are eligible to vote on issues coming before the Voting Body.
