Supporting the integration of research into the daily work of all components of the New York State Nurses Association.
The Foundation of the New York State Nurses Center for Nursing Research Planning Committee has announced two new awards. Applications for these awards, as well the 2008 Distinguished Nurse Researcher Award, are due May 1, 2008. The new awards are:
Novice Nurse Researcher Award
Recognizing excellence in nursing research by a novice researcher. Applicants must be NYSNA member and licensed RN who is doctorally prepared and has obtained at least one degree in nursing; you may have no more than three research-based publications in referred journals; and you may have received, as principal investigator, no more than $15,000 in postdoctoral extramural funding in one particular research area.
Evidence-based Practice Award
Recognizing outstanding work in healthcare organizations that have planned and implemented evidence-based practice projects within the past two years. Projects implemented within the past five years and re-evaluated within the past two years are also eligible. Eligibility for the award requires one of the project leaders must be a registered nurse; also, one of the leaders should be a NYSNA member in good standing.
The Regional Research Consortium was formed under the leadership of Bassett Healthcare’s Department of Nursing and in collaboration with Hartwick College, SUNY IT, Utica-Rome, Syracuse University, and SUNY Binghamton’s Decker School of Nursing. They are pursuing means to facilitate collaborative academic and practice partnerships to advance the science and practice of nursing. The group is in the process of creating its mission and goals.
The Nursing Research Alliance of the Capital District Region’s mission is to bring together healthcare and academic organizations to develop a network to support nurses, nursing students and faculty in nursing research endeavors. Under the guidance of the Excelsior and Sage Colleges of Nursing this group is forming a steering committee to pursue its goals to:
The Council on Nursing Research and the Center for Nursing Research of the Foundation of the New York State Nurses Association have updated the collaborative New York State Nursing Research Agenda.
