New department, familiar faces

NYSNA’s legislative and political efforts will now be directed by the Governmental Affairs Department. The department formerly was part of the Nursing Advocacy and Information (NAI) Program.

Shaun Flynn, who has worked for NYSNA for six years, has been appointed director of the new department. He most recently was an associate director in the NAI program. Alithia Rolon, who also joined NYSNA six years ago, serves as associate director of the department.

Support staff are Heather Ray, program associate, and administrative assistants Dianne Ravella and Megan Eiser.

The NAI Program, under the direction of Renée Gecsedi, will serve members in matters related to nursing practice, education, and research. NAI staff will continue its regulatory and liaison work with the state Department of Health and the Education Department.
